Ausangate And Rainbow Mountain Trek 5 Days Economic

After a nourishing breakfast at Camp Upis Hot Springs, we set out toward Arapa Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft). The trail winds through high Andean plains, passing grazing alpacas and remote shepherds. The crisp mountain air invigorates you, and the majestic peaks of Ausangate Perú dominate the horizon, hinting at the spectacular landscapes ahead.

At Arapa Pass, vast panoramas of multicolored valleys and snowcapped peaks unfold. Standing high above the Andes, surrounded by glaciers and vibrant terrain, is an awe-inspiring experience you will remember forever.

Descending from the pass, we encounter Yanacocha (Black Lake), whose dark waters beautifully contrast with the surrounding mountains. Next, we reach the turquoise Pucacocha Lagoon, framed by striking red and brown volcanic slopes—a true gem of the Ausangate Trek. Here, we enjoy a buffet lunch prepared by our chef, resting while soaking in the extraordinary scenery.

In the afternoon, we ascend Pucacocha Pass (4,870 m / 15,978 ft), one of the most breathtaking viewpoints of the trek. From here, you can admire vast glaciers of Ausangate Mountain and sparkling lagoons below, with alpacas grazing in the highland pastures.

We conclude the day at Anantapata Camp (4,750 m / 15,583 ft), nestled among red valleys beneath towering glaciers. Afternoon tea and a comforting buffet dinner provide time to reflect on the awe-inspiring landscapes of Ausangate Perú.

Day 3 is one of the most iconic and memorable days of the Ausangate Trek 5 Days. We rise very early, around 4:30 am, for a light breakfast to prepare for the ascent to Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m / 16,354 ft). From this vantage point, the first breathtaking views of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca, 5,100 m / 16,732 ft) appear—vibrant, majestic, and almost surreal. Our early arrival allows us to experience Rainbow Mountain in a serene and peaceful moment, before the area fills with other travelers, making it the perfect time to admire the sunrise and capture truly stunning photos.

At Rainbow Mountain, also known as the Mountain of Seven Colors, the slopes are painted in striking layers of red, gold, turquoise, and green. These mineral-rich colors, formed over thousands of years, create an almost otherworldly landscape. Walking among the ridges, breathing the crisp Andean air, and connecting with the sacred energy of the Andes is an unforgettable experience and a highlight of Rainbow Mountain Peru and Ausangate Trekking.

If time and weather allow, we have the option to explore the Red Valley, a dramatic landscape of crimson hills and highland pastures dotted with grazing alpacas and llamas. Every step through this vibrant valley is a photographer’s paradise and an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Ausangate Perú.

After visiting Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley, we return along the same trail to Anantapata, where a well-deserved lunch is served. This provides the perfect chance to rest, recharge, and share experiences with your fellow trekkers while enjoying the flavors of local Andean cuisine prepared by our chef.

In the afternoon, we continue our trek toward Ausangate Qocha Camp (4,500 m / 14,763 ft). The trail winds through stunning green valleys surrounded by snowcapped peaks, where alpacas graze freely in the highland pastures. Along the way, you can admire the contrast between lush vegetation and the glacial mountains of Ausangate Perú, taking in panoramic views that make this section of the Ausangate Trek unforgettable.

Upon reaching Ausangate Qocha Camp, we are greeted by the serene turquoise waters of the glacial lake, framed by towering snowy mountains. The camp is a peaceful haven where you can relax, enjoy afternoon tea, and reflect on the extraordinary landscapes you have witnessed. Dinner at the camp completes this extraordinary day, leaving you with memories of vibrant colors, high-altitude lakes, and the iconic vistas of Rainbow Mountain and Ausangate Perú.

After an early breakfast at our camp beside the beautiful Ausangate Cocha lagoon, we begin one of the most challenging and breathtaking days of the Ausangate Trek. Today’s goal is to cross Palomani Pass (5,200m / 17,060 ft), the highest point of the entire circuit.

The uphill climb is tough, but the views are absolutely worth it. As we ascend, the landscape opens up into dramatic glaciers, colorful valleys, and towering snow-capped peaks—especially the impressive Ausangate Mountain, standing proudly above the horizon. Once at the top of the pass, we’ll take a well-earned break to rest, enjoy the views, and soak in the powerful Andean energy of this sacred place.

We then descend gradually into a quiet valley, where we’ll stop for lunch at a peaceful spot called Hucuy Pinaya. It’s the perfect place to relax and recharge after the big climb.

In the afternoon, we continue our trek along a gentler trail, surrounded by green highland meadows where we often see alpacas, vicuñas, and even wild chinchillas. It’s a more peaceful stretch of the journey, ideal for enjoying the scenery and the silence of the Andes.

By late afternoon, we arrive at Jampa Camp (4,700 m / 15,419 ft), a tranquil campsite nestled in a wide valley surrounded by snow-covered mountains. Here we’ll have a hot dinner and settle in for the night under a sky full of stars.

This is one of the most intense but rewarding days of the Ausangate Trekking experience—full of adventure, beauty, and unforgettable moments in the heart of Ausangate.

Our final day is a journey through beauty and healing. After breakfast, we begin hiking through the mystical 7 Lagoons of Ausangate circuit. Each lagoon—Pucacocha, Hatun Pucacocha, Qomercocha, Orco Otorongo, China Otorongo, Azulcocha, and Alqacocha—has its own distinct color, energy, and story.

These lakes are a dreamlike setting, with reflections of glaciers and clouds floating above still, turquoise waters. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a painting. This hidden gem is one of the most peaceful and sacred parts of Ausangate Peru.

Afterward, we reach the rural community of Pacchanta, where a soak in natural hot springs awaits. Surrounded by snowy peaks, the warm waters will relax your body and soul, a perfect farewell to your Ausangate Trekking journey.

We enjoy our final lunch together in Pacchanta, then take our private vehicle back to Cusco, arriving around 5:30 p.m. with your heart full of memories, your spirit refreshed, and your life changed by the mountains.
